t. le clerc ironie, paradoxe lipstick swatches

Thursday, October 31, 2013

I remember mentioning in my NARS post before that I think I stumbled upon an early Holiday trend in lipsticks...micro-glitter.

Like I said, I first noticed it on NARS and then encountered it again when one of my friends brought home some Dior lipstick for me from Canada.

And now here it is again.

The thing with these micro-glitter infused liptsticks is that they all react differently. NARS is hardy, Dior is subtle, plump yet bright while T. Le Clerc's stays on indefinitely.

Part of their Holiday 2013 collection, Ironie and Paradoxe take micro-glitter lipstick to a different level by creating lipstick that fades beautifully.

Just like all other T. Le Clerc lipsticks that I've tried, their texture is ultra creamy and dreamy. However, both are not so much long-wearing.

That isn't always a bad thing though...what I don't like about most long-wearing lipsticks is that they tend to look awful when they do wear off usually leaving a dark outline around my lips. I'm not always aware of wether my lipstick is still perfectly intact or not so I'm often caught with that unsightly outline for hours.

Paradoxe and Ironie however, leave a glitter effect long after your color is gone. The result is really pretty, natural looking yet totally eye-catching plump lips.

Ironie, as you can see in the photo below, is more of a dark red hue, can't see the gold speckles so much in the photo but they're there...

Paradoxe on the other hand, is my new favorite for the season. The color matches the natural shade of my lips almost perfectly which makes it a no-brainer shade for everyday use. Plus like I said, it's ultra-creamy, unscented, fades beautifully and is just a plain joy to wear all day.

T. Le Clerc is a great alternative for other premium lipsticks since it has the same quality for a substantially lower price. These 2 new shades, especially Paradoxe are a must try the next time you drop by The Beauty Source at Rustans. :)

the thing with christmas....

What do you love most about Christmas?

I love the food, shopping, gift-giving, festivities and how people come together and set aside their differences for the sake of the holiday.

But despite all its niceties, there is one thing that I don't particularly care for...decorating the house...or rather, getting everything down after the season is over.

I don't mean to sound like a scrooge but it can really get pretty tiresome. Putting the tree up can be lots of fun but getting it down and packed can be a real pain the ass. It's also a great dust-trapper especially now that there's construction being done beside our building and dust has multiplied by a hundred times. It gives me the sniffles and Dennis the allergies sometimes.

And don't get me started on packing it all up. I have to take it apart stalk by stalk lug it down to the basement garage, give it a good spraying, hang it to dry then fold everything back up, lug it upstairs and try my best to fit it in the ancient box it came in which takes up so much space I'd rather use to store other things plus I'd hate to think what sleeps in there during the off-season.

As much as I hate it, I can't live without it especially with a 7 year old daughter. I wouldn't want her growing up with bleak Christmas memories of an ornament free home.

So instead, I try to find alternatives to the point where I even conceptualized inventing a pop up tree that springs into life with decorations and all once you extract it from the box...dreaming it up is one thing, getting it done is another so I took to the net instead and found these prelit paper Christmas trees by John Lewis.

They stand about 6 feet and come in two pieces which make it a cinch to assemble and take down. I also like the clean and modern look of them. I think propping up several of them strategically around our place would give it a nice winter wonderland-ish feel and my daughter won't miss our old gigantic plastic tree at all. :P

Heck, with something this easy, I would even allow her to hang some balls on it. And you know, after reflecting on it for some time, I think they are way more stylish looking than my 80s inspired outdated Christmas tree.

What do you think? Are you guys open to modern alternatives such as these?

shoeporn stuart weitzman + gold dot

High-Low.

Shoeporn for every taste and budget from Stuart Weitzman and Gold Dot.

Since day 1 of Stuart's first arrival in Manila, I have been lusting over the Demiswoon tall boots...I think it is a wise investment for every woman (especially those travel a lot) to own one good pair of tall boots in a classic style that can withstand the times. A good black boot is just as versatile as a black pump and these are one of the more gorgeous ones I have laid eyes on this season...

Happy Halloween! Loving these masked looks. Great inspiration for a last-minute costume or even early prep for next year. This actually makes me want to throw a chic masquerade party just for the hell of it- I'm thinking New Year's would be perfect.

Get the look...

Look of the Day: All Black Everything

If it's even possible, I feel like this season I'm loving black even more. While for some of us a total black outfit is the epitome of boringness, I have to admit most of the time my attention is immediately drawn to people wearing black rather that to those wearing colors.

I'll stop wearing black the day they make a darker color - this phrase has to be my slogan for autumn!

I'm wearing:
Dress - Chicwish
Biker jacket - Chicwish
Biker boots - ASOS

Thanks for the blog post title Niche.

I was really going for an Urban Rock Chic look since that was the dress code for the Mango Rocks It Up fashion show but the first thing Niche said when he saw me was "Clueless!" I guess that's because of the matchy-matchy tartan jacket and skirt.

Later in the night, when I met up with Ana, she said it looks "Harajuku"-ish.

I don't know, all I know is that I wanted to try a head to toe plaid look. :)

uniqlo launches new fleece collection

Wednesday, October 30, 2013

For some reason, I have always seen fleece as something utilitarian, something reserved for camping and sports. I never really paid much attention to it until recently, when I personally got to try and own one from Uniqlo.

Their flagship fleece jackets come in endless colors in a simple cut. They didn't really jump at me when I first saw them hanging on the racks at their SM Aura store but when I tried them on...it was a whole different story.

The simple cut with a turned up collar is actually VERY chic in a minimalistic way. I am in love with all the neutrals...white, beige, black and also the one in a sort of gray-blue shade. They are the coziest thing ever plus prices start at just P790 for the regular fleece.  Personally, I am partial to the furrier/shaggy version which sells for P990 (as seen in the photo below). They have the look of a fur coat but can easily be worn in a country like ours without having to bear the judgmental looks from the less experimental (fashion-wise) set.

For men, and women who prefer a sportier look, they also carry micro-fleece jackets (P790) which are less bulky but offer the same comfort and "snuggability".

Uniqlo's new URBAN FLEECE collection comes in jackets, coats, slacks and t-shirts for men, women and children in different variations of the material yet all are truly affordable.

I'm going back for a matching jacket for me and Nikola plus maybe a black hooded coat that I so totally fell for and is perfect for my trip abroad this January.

The new fleece collection is really something worth checking out, while you're there, make sure to also check out their plaid flanel shirts and super cool graphic tees.

Now I know why UNIQLO is such a big hit in Japan.
