filip + inna for bayo

Tuesday, October 15, 2013

An intimate event was held yesterday at Bayo's Glorietta store to celebrate their collaboration with Filip + Inna.

Filip + Inna's mission is to preserve the ancient traditions of the Philippines that are in danger of becoming lost by utilizing traditional weaves and embroideries of various local tribes and incorporating them into modern silhouettes.

They work with many groups of talented artisans across the archipelago for a fair chance at improving their livelihood.

Filip + Inna's pieces have a great following abroad. Their pieces are sought after by the fashion elite and usually sell for hundreds of dollars.

Which is probably why their Glorietta boutique was filled to overflowing with friends and fans of (Filip + Inna's creative director) Lenora Cabili's work in the hopes of being able to snatch a piece from her super limited edition capsule collection from Bayo.

The Filip + Inna collaboration with Bayo features garments embelished with beautiful hand embroidery by the Tboli tribes and sell for around P900-P2000.

If I'm not mistakened, there are only 20 pieces per style which is why I immediately snagged one of her kimonos. I was also dying to get a kaftan but my budget did not permit (hello credit card debt :( ) but I sure as hell will try to return after the end of the month. Hopefully, there'll still be one left in my size.
