uniqlo opens in sm megamall

I headed to Megamall last November 12, 2013 to witness the opening of Uniqlo's 7th and largest store in the Philippines.

Uniqlo's SM Megamall branch boasts of 3 solid floors packed with basic clothing essentials for everyone - kids, men and women. And to celebrate their opening, almost everything will be on sale for a week. I had to sum up all my self control to not hoard on fleece jackets and jeggings of every color and print imaginable. Prices were so reasonable it almost felt justifiable :P

Their Megamall branch is just the beginning of Uniqlo's rapid expansion in the Philippines. Before the end of 2013, new stores are slated to open in Robinson's Place Manila, SM Clark, SM BF Paranaque and SM Dasmarinas.

Following this, by August 2014, Uniqlo will also open new stores at SM Southmall, Eastwood City, Gateway Mall and SM Sta. Rosa.

But by far, the highlight of my evening (aside from the shopping) was the announcement of chief operating officer, Katsumi Kubota. It almost brought tears to my eyes when he proclaimed Uniqlo's donation of 10 million yen as well as 1 million pesos worth of Uniqlo clothing to all Typhoon Yolanda/Haiyan victims. It was so unexpected and truly heartwarming.
