The Spring Summer 2014 collection celebrates the decade long collaboration between legendary designer Jeremy Scott and adidas. While the collection cements the creative relationship between the two, Scott refuses to rest on his laurels. Instead, the New York-based designer pushes ahead with his luxury sportswear vision and, as per usual, the focus lies on bold colours, qualitative fabrics and intricate prints. Scott's signature design is visible throughout the collection, and one of the key themes for SS14 is the pearl embroidery tradition from London. The 'Pearlies', a nick name for East End street traders wearing suits decorated with pearl buttons, emerged in the late 18th century and peaked in the 1970s. For SS14, Scott put hand-stitched pearl buttons on heavy weight jackets and matching tracksuit bottoms with bondage details.
Scott is also sticking to the UK with his SS14 prints - and incorporating himself into the mix. All-over adidas logo prints are crowned with a digital photo print of Scott with a Union Jack face paint. Moving back to the US, Scott also honours his classic American sportswear heritage by offering a cropped and colourful football jersey with all-over haberdashery details and plastic numbers with two-tone gel inside, and a baseball shirt with all-over lace versions in monochrome tones and a grosgrain trim and satin-stitched adidas logo.
Other main pattern themes include the winged dollar sign, florals and leopard prints. All of them classic Jeremy Scott patterns, they have been updated to fit the Spring Summer 2014 aesthetic. Colour-wise Scott re-focuses on the neon palette, either with a bomber jacket in yellow or perforated mesh tops and shorts in orange and green shades. For the bottom half, Scott revitalises the shorts silhouette; denim hot pants with orange velcro belt and the jogger sweat pant with full length sleeves attached to the sides dominate the category.
The SS14 footwear delves into luxury streetwear with the JS Instinct style appearing with a rainbow effect on a premium Italian leather, and the classic Rod Laver shoe model showing up in gold hues and lace jewellery. Newcomers include the TALL BOY shoe model, which - as the name indicates - is big in both size and ambition. Scott's UK inspiration also colours the footwear through a bold Union Jack print on the adidas Letter Instinct trainer, which also comes in a leopard print. While the JS Profi Wedge shoe model continues the lace theme, the JS Wings Easy Five style comes in premium smooth gold leather for women, and the iconic Bones trainer is back with multi-coloured leather and gold Trefoil logo in the font, perfectly summing up not only the key themes for SS14 but also the core design DNA of the Jeremy Scott x adidas brand.

What could be better than snuggling on the couch with a tub of popcorn over a bunch of feel-good movies??? Em...close to nothing? It's one of my favorite things to do and this February, CinemaWorld celebrates the day of love with Romance movies every 9:00 PM from February 9 until February 15.
Leading the roster this month are these highly acclaimed international movies:
A midsummer of Love |
Looking for your other half is no easy feat, but you can find the humor and adventure in it with these two films. A Midsummer of Love, premiering February 9 at 9:00 PM, begins with Göran trying to recover from a breakup. Refusing to compromise with love or settle down without the perfect girl, he finds himself on a trip to a Swedish archipelago to join a Midsummer party at the height of summer, where romance just might be in store. Meanwhile, the bittersweet Italian for Beginners shows how the lives of six insecure, single and vulnerable people cross together in one bleak Copenhagen winter when they all sign up for an evening Italian class. With different stories and personalities, see how they find love with each other in an authentic Italian way on February 15 at 9:00 PM.
An enemy To Die For |
Catch the multi-award winning Bon Appétit on February 10, UK movie City Slacker on February 11, 2012 German Box Office Hit Freshly Squeezed on February 12, Lessons In Chocolate, starring Italian star Luca Argentero, on February 13, and 2013 German Film of the Year Italian For Beginners on February 14, all at 9:00 PM.
When I Saw You |
Explore how loyalty and passion come together. This month, continue the journey of love with Palestinian Drama When I Saw You, German Thriller An Enemy To Die For, and Croatian Comedy Will Not Stop There.
Palestine’s 2013 Oscar Entry for Foreign Language Film, When I Saw You, opens the month with its vision of family life in a 1960s refugee camp. Tarek, together with his mother Ghaydaa, both Palestinian refugees, wait to reunite with his father in a Jordanian camp. Despite their dour circumstances, the boy sees only beauty and hope. Eventually his free spirit and curious nature leads him to a group of people on a journey that will change their lives. This film, dubbed as “cinematic poetry” by the Huffington Post, premieres on February 2 at 9:00 PM.
Will Not Stop There |
Who would have thought that you could fall in love with someone who may well have been, at some point in time, your worst enemy? Certainly not Croatian war veteran Martin, who finds himself deeply in love with a beautiful Siberian prostitute. For her to be with him, Martin must buy her from her pimp. Comedic movie Will Not Stop There, which received the FIPRESCI (Fédération Internationale de la Presse Cinématographique) Prize at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2009, premieres on February 23, at 9:00 PM.
