h&m philippines press preview + autumn/winter 2014 collection

Tuesday, June 17, 2014

The wait is almost over.

Yesterday, I got the chance to preview H&M's Autumn/Winter Collection and most of the stuff that's gonna be available in their soon-to-open, first ever, Philippine store.

The open house was held at the Zuellig building and it did not disappoint. But it was a little bit frustrating being able to view and try on the clothes without the option to purchase. :P It makes the anticipation all the more unbearable especially knowing that dresses bear price tags starting at just P800 and sneakers at P1000.

Good news though, their Mega Fashion Hall boutique - or should I say - superstore - with its 3000+ square meters of floor space, is set to open this fall to coincide with the release of their Autumn 2014 collection.

Here's what you should expect come mid-year:

For Women: Lots of androgynous style with a wide collection of blazers, biker and aviator jackets worn over draped tops and dresses.

Fabrics are made up mostly of silk crepe and chiffon for delicate dresses, leather in patent, distressed and metallic, fake fur on its own or creatively patch-worked together, velvet for tops, dresses and an evening take on the track pant + fine cashmere for tanks, sweaters and dresses.

There's also a lot of interesting detail going on in the form of sequins, laced knits, cord, asymmetric hems and intricate patchwork.

Color is mostly kept in solemn fall colors like black, navy, khaki, off-white, beige and grey with unexpected pops of bubblegum pink and bold zebra patterns.

Key pieces to look out for are: pointed boots with either a low or high heel, mules, slip dresses, biker jackets, draped tops and trousers, wide trousers, patchwork and cashmere knits.

For Men: it's all about a rebellious attitude: mixing modern mod Parisian cool with the attitude of London and the sleekness of New York.

Fabrics are made up mostly of leather, wool, cotton, mohair and nylon for a future-now feel while details are in the form of zippers, jet and welt pockets as well as hybrid garments that fuse together the classics of menswear.

Color is mostly in blacks, greys and whites.

Key Garments to look out for are: wool coats, biker jackets, elongated bomber jackets, check flannel shirts, tailored trackpants, and leather trousers.

Although there weren't many pieces on display yet for the kids collection, the ones that were present promised adorable mini-me looks.

H&M Philippines will open it's first store this Fall at the Mega Fashion Hall wing of SM Megamall.
